Article: Kingston® KVR533D2N4K2/1G Dual Channel Kit Value RAM (Affordable Overclocker's RAM?)
Many thanks to Kingston®, and Intel® for providing the processor.
VII. Closing Thoughts
The memory modules has performed really well, for its price, the performance is decent and the overclocking headroom is a bonus. Of course, this doesn't mean that your mileage will be the same, it can be better or worst, but overclocking involves luck so I won't dwell on it too much, this is a value memory anyway.
I have compared the use of this memory from my other Enthusiast level RAM such as Corsair's Extreme Memory series and I'd say, without the benchmark numbers, actual user experience is the same. I can not feel any lag, nor any gaping performance decrease with the use of the memory modules. So in terms of performance, and value, I am all for this memory.
But if I may put a dent on this memory, this is just to nitpick and nothing really serious. It is the lack of heatspreader for this memory. I really feel that all memory should have heatspreaders, not because it looks good, or it provides better heat dissipation, but to protect the memory themselves. I never doubted that OEM RAM modules shouldn't have heatspreaders, since they are mostly going on pre-built systems where users will not often plug and unplug memory modules. But in the retail channel, where there are still a lot of users that aren't very careful with handling such sensitive devices, then even the least amount of protection for the modules would be really nice.
To conclude this memory review, I recommend Kingston*'s ValueRAM for those who need a branded RAM backed by Lifetime Warranty, for its price and performance.
